Review of Christine (1983) by Alexander F — 24 Oct 2010
Based on the novel by the legendary Stephen King, Christine is a thrilling observation of our love of material things and the question, what if they loved us back?
Arnie and Dennis are best friends, but Dennis was the jock and Arnie was a nerd, so Arnie always had to look up to Dennis. But that all changed the day Arnie bought Christine, a 1958 Plymouth Fury. Although it was trashed, Arnie fixed it up, and then becomes obsessed with it. There's just something about christine that isn't normal. Though this movie contains possible elements to make a good story, this movie is more or less just about a killer car. Some good acting by Keith Gordon though, but the movie doesn't nearly touch on it's characters as much as it should.
Not particulary the best made movie, but there are a few cool things about Christine, like, how the hell did the movie makers fix up the car everytime they trashed it in a scene? Could have been multiple cars, but Christine is one fine ass car. There are some cool scenes like Christine healing it's self, or when it was on fire chasing a guy, or it's radio. Just little things.
Overall, Christine is a good movie that can be watched time through time. It's not the best horror movie in the world, but for the '80s it's acceptable.
