Review of Christine (1983) by Neil K — 14 Apr 2008
Stephen King's novels focus on character development to highten the terror. Unfortunately John Carpenter decided to simply move the story along its major plot points, resulting in tremendous lagtime throughout the film.
Some decent performances float among the supporting characters, but the leads are woefully misaligned from their intended purpose. Fortunately the car is the star - and the reverse-motion effects are quite beautiful to behold.
