Stephen King might have had everything that he's written adapted into a movie but nobody gave them more justice than Carpenter. This book was fairly uninteresting but when Carpenter put his mind to it and rewrote some sections it turned into a great mind bending horror.
I don't think that Carpenter ever will get honorary Oscar but he has my praises.
