Review of Chopping Mall (1986) by Kevin C — 10 Jun 2008
Bargain basement horror with little talent in front of (sans Barbara Crampton and Dick Miller) or behind the camera.
the film features a cast of relatively unlikable characters who decide to spend the night in the department store they work at. Yes, it's locate dint he MALL!
Unfortunately tonight is the night the experimental trio of security robots go on the frits and begin killing everyone in sight.
The robots themselves are kind of goofy looking and aren't very scary at all even though their creator installed the ED 209 voice from Robocop. They are tiny little robots on tank treads rolling around shooting friggin lasers.
I dunno. When the main antagonist isn't menacing or scary in the least you instantly have a problem with your horror movie.
Not scary and is only entertaining in the sense that your eyes are stuck to the screen out of disbelief. It's that bad.
Best moment in the film? Laser blast to the head. You'll have to see it for yourself, sucker.
