Review of Chopper (2000) by Chris W — 03 Apr 2008
One of those films that depends chiefly on the leading man's capacity to bring the main character to life, this account of the life and violent history of true life criminal and all round nutjob Mark "Chopper" Read, has the extreme fortune of having Eric Bana at it's center.
bana is simply sensational.Charismatic, funny and terrifying all at once, his performance allows a certain empathy for the character, while never onceallowing you to forget how dangerous he is.Dominik's unflinching shooting style and some ingenious cinematography mark this film out as a rare treat, exciting and fascinating.
