Review of Chop Shop (2008) by Jared L — 15 Jul 2008
The film is far too minimal to do anything productive. The director sets the bar too low by only attempting to tell one (partial) story and even smaller bits of another. Clearly, he intends to reveal the conditions of "Third World America.
" But, if he had attempted to show the lives of more than just a single boy, the film would have been much more engaging. While focusing on the daily minutiae in the life of one person trying to live the best they can might be interesting in some instances, in this case, it cannot sustain a film.
