Review of Choke (2008) by Nivin P — 09 Apr 2009
Certainly not tame.
Meandering at times, but fairly thought provoking for the most part. Black comedy is not easy to pull off, and there is no shortage of glaring howlers in this one. But it does have its moments, making the most of the main character's unabashedly squalid lifestyle.
Just when it appears to be something you could approach and relate to, it goes back to being an uncouth, aloof, self indulgent little fuck. Which, I suppose, can be termed anything but tame.
