Review of Choke (2008) by Amandine V — 03 May 2009
The last movie I saw (or that there was) based on a Chuck Palahniuk novel was Fight Club, and Choke carries with it many of the same themes: addiction, mistaken identity, using crying as emotional relief.
It's equally trippy but goes for a more modest visual approach (it's not a David Fincher flick). But Clark Gregg (the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent from Iron Man!) does a respectable, if a bit straightforward job of retelling the story.
Never thought I'd be laughing at a rape scene, either (it's not an actual rape). Poodle.
