Review of Choke (2008) by Rowan S — 19 Jun 2009
Unimpressed.
I was looking forward to this film for to long, and meh. First gripe is that it is not as visually interesting as the last Chuck Palahnuik film, second is that it is like the readers digest version of choke. Yes some of it is disgusting, but where is the pathology, insecurity of the protagonist, And the goddamn monkey with the chesnuts!!
Choke goes through the motions so fast that none of the characters have enough time to develop, and the delivary of the twist at the end was very anticlimatic.
Even people who arent familiar with Palahnuik's work will be disappointed, it would probably be like watching a low budget version of harold and kumar, or dude wheres my car.
I really love the actors in this film, but I wouldve never imagined them playing the characters in Choke, Rockwell shouldve been left for survivor.
Kind of makes me nervous about how survivors going to turn out!
