Review of Choke (1971) by Kim A — 21 May 2009
Well, It wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen...I really like Sam Rockwell, but I don't think he did his best in this movie. The acting overall in this movie was a little drab. I had some trouble making myself pay attention until the end of the film.
It just wasn't that great. The book was so intriguing and raw and hilarious, but this movie doesn't capture that. This could have been a great movie. It maybe even could have been as good as its "counterpart," Chuck Palahniuk's other novel-turned-film, Fight Club.
I wish there had been a better cast, director, producer, screenwriter. I might have liked this movie more if I hadn't read the book first and fell in love with it. When I compare this movie to the book, it's a big dissapointment.
..I give this movie two stars because it's based off of such a great book, but other than that...it sucked.
