Review of Chinatown (1974) by Steve S — 10 Sep 2012
"Forget it Jake, it's Chinatown." Superb tribute to the early film noir classics. Jack Nicholson inhabits his role as cynical private eye, Jake Gittes, with singular guile cleverness. As the events of the film unfold and we are drawn farther into the shady underworld of 30's era LA.
The atmosphere of the film owes as much to the city and the desert as it does to the characters.
