Review of Chinatown (1974) by Morgan H — 11 Sep 2012
Robert Towne's screenplay is taught in colleges as an exemplar piece of cinematic writing, Nicholson has never been better than as Gittes, Ms. Dunaway ravishes every moment she's onscreen, John Huston provides one of the nastiest villains in movie history with aplomb and nuance, and Polanski's direction is superb in channeling noirish qualities in his own way.
All these elements combine to make one of the best movies ever made.
