It's full of drama, sadness, and joy.

A three year old chimpanzee and his mother live in a medium sized group of chimpanzees that rely on harvest nuts to survive as well as other various foods that grow in their forest. A more powerful group of chimpanzees are expanding their territory and will look to invade the forest inhabited by the mother and son. Can the mother and son survive the invasion; and if separated, could they survive on their own?

"There's something wrong with this hammer.".

Alastair Fothergill (Deep Blue, African Cats, and Earth) collaborates with Mark Linfield (Earth), to deliver Chimpanzee. The storyline for this picture is very good and reminded me of Apocalypto. The settings were awesome and the characters, despite being chimpanzees, were well delivered and followed. The narration by Tim Allen was spot on.

"She will never return to her family or her son.".

Chimpanzee was a film airing as the first feature at the drive-in this past weekend (along with Avengers and The Raven). I was thoroughly surprised by the plot. They delivered unique characters that were worth following and more intense than I anticipated. The monkeys eating monkeys sequence shocked me and there were a couple other intense scenes that impressed me. I strongly recommend seeing this film.

"The forbidden fruit is finally within reach.".

Grade: B.
