Review of Chillerama (2011) by Seth C — 05 Nov 2011
Chillerama is the most hilarious spoof I have seen in like forever! The film is comprised of 4 segments / 5 if you include the notorious & tastefully tasteless mini segment Deathication. It is a throwback or rather homage to all of the great B films and grindhouse pictures of almost every era of cinema.
Like the tag line says, "something for every bad taste". I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that it is an anti studio film with genuinely unique concepts even though it is a spoof especially with the studios just remaking every franchise known to man these days.
It feels fresh despite the parody of films past and the directing and acting is masterfully executed. Each segment is wonderful in it's own way and the great thing is even if you don't like one of the segments you will probably enjoy a different one.
I particularly thought Adam Rifkin's segment, Wadzilla stood out along with him acting as the lead. I also rather enjoyed Joel Moore's portrayal of Hitler and absolutely loved the kid who played an Elvis like bad boy in The I Was A Teenage Werebear segment, Anton Troy.
The film is even more fun to watch with lots of friends and I feel like that is part of the overall experience. A great party movie or just great fun for comedy, horror, science fiction & fantasy fans!
