Review of Chillerama (2011) by Carl M — 04 Jan 2013
Chillerama started off incredibly strong to the point where I thought it was a definite four star flick. Trying to be like a mix of Creepshow and Grindhouse, this really succeeds if you really like Troma things, but may be too goofy for someone wanting straight up chills.
Wadzilla was great as was most of the drive-in scenes. The Werebear segment was pretty crappy. I laughed a lot at Chillerama but some of The Diary of Ann Frankenstein didn't work for the most part aside from some gags.
By the time the ending came I was thinking that this was a kind of miss at what it was supposed to be in terms of other anthology flicks. If the makers were gunning for reaching Troma levels, which the drive-in being named Kaufman may indicate then sure this is a celebration of all things horrible.
