Review of Child's Play 3 (1991) by Lafe F — 07 Jul 2007
The opening title sequence for this movie is probably in my top-ten favorites list; with the edgy and prickly music combined with the swirling shots of a new Chucky doll being made with the blood of the old; awesome imagery and sound!
The evil Chucky Doll follows Andy Barclay, now a teenager, to Military School. Andy's gotten older, so Chucky is attempting to possess a little black soldier boy instead.
I didn't like the cliched military academy rough-treatment which the kids endured. This whole miserable environment brought the entire movie down.
There's a few death scenes, but not enough really. There's a great barbershop throat slicing scene, and some war game sabotage where Chucky replaces the blanks with real ammunition. I wanted a greater death for the arrogant drill instructor.
The amusement park finale felt tacked on to the rest of the story. Chucky got it good at the end of this movie.
