Review of Child's Play 3 (1991) by Christina N — 23 Oct 2007
This second Child's Play sequel is a bit weird. It has higher production values, great special effects, solid acting, a recycled but somehow interesting plot, and still something bothers me. I don't know exactly what it is.
I guess I feel strange about a little killing doll standing alone and being able to terrorize a whole group of soldiers. We all once said: ''Come on, what's so scary about a doll? Just kick it and it's over!'' Well now they have a whole bunch of guns and military weapons and Chucky wins again!! Sorry, I guess I just forgot I was watching Child's Play 3.
This is not supposed to make sense! However, and that's the weirdest thing about this movie, it does make sense, for some unknown reason. You keep watching the movie and everything is so well-done that you easily forget how stupid it is.
So, it's pure and easy entertainment! Don't expect a great piece of art, and don't even expect a dark, scary and powerful Chucky sequel because, according to me, this is the weakest one of the series, Part 1 and Bride being the best.
