Review of Child's Play 3 (1991) by Josh M — 11 Jan 2008
I just finished rewatching all five films in the "Child's Play" series, and I must say that 1 and 2, Bride and Seed are all very good to pretty good horror/horror-comedy films. I therefore wonder what the filmmakers were on when they created this mediocre, poor acted, more violent rehash of parts one and two.
The only new element added is the setting; a military academy; which is greatly underused, and when used is stupid. The film was released less that a year after 2 so why for pity's sake do they skip ahead 10 years? The first 2/3 and the last 1/3 feel like two completely different movies.
we go from dark gritty military school to bright and shiny fairgrounds. who has a permanent fair right next door to a military academy, that's simply asking for trouble. Not a horrible film; just far inferior to it's for fathers and it's children.
