Lazy writing that was held up by decent performances from actors and a surprisingly inspired director style. The original Child's Play was no Citizen Kane but at least it made sense (as much as a horror movie about a murderous child's toy can) and had better writing.
If you are going to see a movie this weekend Toy Story 4 is a better use of your hard earned money.
