The chills come thick and fast. Child's Play is a cheerfully energetic horror film of the slam-bang school, but slicker and more clever than most. With humor taking a backseat to good, old-fashioned suspense, Child's Play is an impressive horror highlight of the late-'80s film scene. Holland's sure handling of the suspense and shock moments lends the film a sharp and scary edge. The movie also has an intriguing plot device, which is that nobody, of course, will believe that the doll is alive. It does, however, have some decent scares, a lot of good lines and a memorable villain. Child's Play is a cheerfully energetic horror film of the slam-bang school, but slicker and more clever than most.

VERDICT: "Full Price" - Second highest rating in the system (Positive to Mixed reaction). This is a rating to a movie I view as very entertaining and well made, and definitely worth paying the full price at a theater to see or own on DVD. It is not perfect, but it is definitely excellent....
