Review of Child's Play (1993) by Emily H — 30 Jul 2014
I fully expected this film to be awful, although I know it spawned countless sequels, original horror films - especially those about a killer doll - can seem to be dated by today's standards. Surprisingly, Child's Play seemed quite modern both in terms of it's storytelling and even it's puppetry used for the infamous doll.
The voice acting is decidedly creepy, there's a good mixture of exposition and action/horror scenes. Although I wouldn't really call the film a true horror, after you know what's going on there seems to be very few scares at all.
But you still remain hooked til the end.
