Review of Child's Play (1988) by Tomasan — 07 May 2010
In an age of dull remakes and uncreative ideas for the horror genre, I fear for the future of Child's Play. As it is one of the main links to the 80's slashers, I just can't wrap my mind around a remake.
I mean I sort of can, but the question would be..WHY? Well, Child's Play is fantasy and horror frapee'd to it's finest blend. Almost biting off of old Twilight Zone episodes, This landmark of horror still stands tall (or short) as a historical slasher and a definitively creepy movie.
Chucky in his prime. Can't say too much for the other's (except I love Bride) but if you really want to know about the roots of the killer doll, watch the original. When you watch it, try to imagine a remake.
I guess it is inevitable, but for god sakes, dont screw up Chucky! Please God! Anyways, I think Child's Play is a well put together movie. Very dark and cold. It is very psychological and terrifying and hails as a great horror movie.
4 starz.
