Review of Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest (1995) by Brian M — 12 May 2008
This is the one I remember watching as a kid; the one with the monster at the end. This is the lowest rated of the series (2.8 on IMDb), but, personally, I think it's the second best (part 4 being #1).
The low points include the constant voice-dubbing of Eli and the ridiculous monster effects at the end -- a nice use of a Barbie doll as a stunt double. There are references and flashbacks to Gatlin, and a world domination plot that's all right.
I love, love, love the death scenes... especially the one involving a water pipe and the one with lonnnng neck. I like the scarecrow stuff, too. There are always some wonderful casting surprises in these films, and this is no exception.
Charlize Theron makes her film debut (at 54:03), but only has 11 seconds of total screen time (the last being her death scene from 1:21:07 - 1:21:09). Nicholas Brendon (Xander from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") has an even shorter, although credited, role as Basketball Player One (he's in the movie for 5 seconds tops).
And "Saved by the Bell" fans will recognize Jon Clair as Darren, the guy Lisa asked out and didn't know he was a freshman.
