Review of Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice (1992) by Sylvester K — 20 Oct 2011
Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice is just as good as the original. The film has an entertaining plot with a decent cast of actors. I enjoyed this film, and thought for a sequel, was pretty good.
Story is a bit more developed this time around, and director David Price steadily and effectively builds the tension with good gore and good scares. The film succeeds where so many other sequels have failed.
There are good, horrifying elements here, and the script is well written and the scares are plentiful with a good dose of blood and gore. This is where this sequel, along with others differ significantly from the first film, its use of violence to help create the terror.
Sure the firs film was violent, but it relied more on suspense and tension to effectively build up the terror in the viewer. The result is a good sequel that is just as good as the first one, but the use of more blood and gore adds an effective air of tension.
Sure, the film could have used without the gore, but sometimes it's good to try new things, and for this franchise. The film a good entry in the series and is very entertaining, unfortunately, many people overlook this film, and the series in general.
This is a good horror film that should appeal to fans of the first, and is definitely an underrated film. Worth watching and is a good horror sequel.
