Review of Children of Men (2006) by Luis R — 21 Jul 2013
What gravity. What suspense. What storytelling. Alfonso Cuaron directs and writes Children of Men: a film about hope and redemption in a dystopian future. But do not be misled. This is not a film that brings in cool sci fi effects or futuristic women with three breasts (.
..), this is purely driven by storytelling and characters. Its biblical resonance is obvious and symbolic (note the film was released on Christmas), and adds to the stories genius. It has so much force behind it and suspense and beauty and shock.
It leaves you beyond words.
