Review of Child 44 (2015) by Ashleigh J — 16 Apr 2015
Let me just start off by saying I have not read the book.
This movie really bummed me out, because I was veryyy excited about the cast & the general plot that was portrayed in the trailer.
Aside from the constant shakey and uneven shots (for a 2.5 hour movie? Barf.) & the weak at best Russian accents (cmon, Gary!) the movie had like, 5 different storylines going on, all of which were sloppily executed - none of which were thoroughly explained. I wish they would have stuck with the main 2 story lines & made them what the could have been.
I mean, even the action scenes - we couldnt tell what was going on or who anyone was until each fight was over because they were so poorly choreographed.
Terrible accents. Dizzying camera work. Spaghetti Bowl of storylines.
The only thing I enjoyed was getting to watch Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, & Gary Oldman for a couple hours - but even that grew dull after the first half of this movie.
IN CONCLUSION - as Ron Swanson once said, Never half-ass two things. Whole-ass one thing.
