Child 44 is a historical drama that is under- appreciated by audiences who only want action or romantic films. How sad! It is more of a "thinking person's" movie that I enjoyed very much.
The acting, especially on the part of Tom Hardy, was also very good. Well-acted, well-directed and well-presented are terms that describe this movie. There were only about 20 people in the theatre-a tragedy for such a good movie.
