Review of Child 44 (2015) by James P — 21 Apr 2015
Tom Rob Smith's novel CHILD 44 was a well-crafted and complex thriller--more original in its setting than in its plot, but very good. The film version is atmospheric and creepy-looking, and features some good performances, but it's all very superficial.
Lacking the character and plot details that fleshed out the novel, we cannot ignore the many absurdities of the plot and leave the theater feeling "undernourished.".
