Review of Child 44 (2015) by Nick B — 25 Apr 2015
Tom Hardy plays this guy with current notions of equality and justice, but he's living in an ignorant and unjust Soviet Russia. I thought it was frustrating to watch the whole country live in naivety and fear of punishment; it was even more frustrating that I didn't hear a single Russian say a single sentence in Russian; these facts ultimately made me turned off by the movie.
But hey, it's Tom Hardy, and the movie has a positive ending that comes full circle to the mistakes made at the beginning.
