Review of Child 44 (2015) by Darren D — 04 Aug 2015
Child 44 had the perfect premise on being a good mystery thriller, but the movie suffers from the dull sub plots and a boring direction. A movie story that takes place in 1950â(TM)s Russia and a talented casts speaking with Russian accents.
Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Noomi Rapace, Joel Kinnaman, and Vincent Cassel were all great. Sadly, the direction was so dull; the movie was filled with exposition and overly long scenes. It did take long for the story to kick into gear and started showing the purpose.
The editors could have trimmed down some scenes, and kept the story at a pace without traveling into multiple sub plots that the direction did not know what it wants to be. Child 44 is a boring film, it did not have any thrills that it intended to do, the story was all over the place, and the movie itself is just not even worth sitting through.
