Hardly worthy of the savaging it's received, Child 44 is a thrilling take of a detective pursuing a killer through the Soviet Union. It does thrill in parts, and is intriguing and exciting, but is let down by its length. It drags on, and suffers for it, but Tom Hardy is fantastic in the lead role of detective Leo Demidov.
