An ambitious, intelligent, dense and complex masterpiece. The great cast and director have perfectly depicted this little known and understood dark part of the soviet history. Don't be fooled by the negative critics and poor ratings - most people visibly expected a standard action thriller.

This movie is a historical drama that unfolds like a novel. The crime investigation is only a backdrop, that the main purpose. A must see movie.
