Accent are riidiculous. I didn't read the book. But description of harassment and manhunt is pretty close to what it was those times. Description of holodomor is fiar. It was much worse. Although the murderer's character is said to be based on Chikatilo to my view it is rather far from his story.
Actors payed really well. CHaracters are well described and presented. All and all I liked the movie. It is rather difficult for non Russian to portray life there in true lights. But this was rather well done.
