Review of Chico & Rita (2010) by Gabe L — 28 May 2012
This animated film for adults is about a bittersweet love story between 2 people Chico and Rita and how jazz music, politics and fame affected their fate with each other. The setting takes place in 1940's Cuba, which the animators didn't fail in putting to life.
I like the style of animation that the creators have employed, I find it refreshing. The movie itself is entertaining, partly because of the jazz music and the cameos (albeit animated) of popular people of the said genre of music at the time.
The end of the film was just so affecting for me, I was crying during the last 10 minutes! 4/5.
