Review of Chicken Run (2000) by Stefan G — 31 Mar 2013
The creative visuals, though they did a very good job at establishing the film's style, do nothing to draw attention away from the fact the general mediocrity of the plot. The characters are okay, and they do have good acting behind them.
But they are just too generic, even for British standards, to be taken seriously. The plot is a pastiche of movies like The Great Escape, but a pastiche it remains. Overall, it's thoroughly British, as is Aardman's tradition, but that's not how I like it.
