Review of Chicago (2002) by Jamie F — 03 Nov 2012
In my opinion Rob Marshall did a fantastic job in this film.
He was the only director to come up with seeing it through imagination and how much they have improved the script work. For instance in the musical - Velma Kelly just bursts out into song singing All that Jazz and I asked myself... "Why is she there??" and then you figure it out later on in the show... Whilst in the film you see Velma coming from a taxi, rips veronica's name off the poster and heads up into the dressing room and that immediately establishes that she is a performer, she has done something to her sister and you then understand why she sings All that Jazz.
The dancing looks fresh and updated whilst also keeping some of those famous Fosse moves which is fantastic.
So 10 out of 10 from me!
