Review of Chicago (2002) by Lauralee C — 17 Jan 2013
A direct descendant of Cabaret and black comedies, this is a musical with the witty premise of showgirls who make it big with the publicity of the criminal acts that they commit. While there is an original energy to the film, as well as a poignant satirical premise, the structure of the film is devoid of any tension and systematically sucks energy and tension out of the story.
