The lighting, the music, the presence, the staging... THIS is a monumental example of bringing a musical stage to film. (Possibly making it better!) I went to see "Chicago" in 2002 with a date and my eyes were only glued to the screen.
When it ended, I actually put out my arms saying "What? Its over?!" Possibly my favorite movie of all time.
