Review of Chi-Raq (2015) by Terry M — 15 Dec 2015
I have absolutely no idea why this movie got such high ratings, other than for it being controversial. This movie was basically a soft porn. At the end of the movie I worked my brain trying to add meaning and understand the premise or purpose of this Satire film and I just came to the conclusion that the movie was nothing more than a mockery, objectifying black women as if we have absolutely nothing more to offer to society but our bodies, making a mockery of black people having faith, making a mockery of all the mothers who have lost children.
Nothing pointing out the mental issues in the communities and the lack of mental help. A bunch of unprotected sex, and I didn't see not one condom in the movie or any mention of the STDs plaguing these communities or AIDS that are killing these black women with this so called power.
One minute he's mentioning black on black crime, the next minute he listing out the names of all the black peoples who have been killed by cops, and the next we have an entire obnoxious scene surrounding the confederate flag.
This movie was all over the place, it wasn't good and it didn't serve any real purpose for anyone in the black community other than Spike Lee to try to revive his career using a time of absolute turmoil, pain and chaos.
Goodbye to this movie, Spike Lee please try again!!
