Review of Cherrybomb (2009) by The S — 07 Oct 2010
The Film itself is a surreal experience, between how its filmed and how it has aspects of those coming of age tragedy's that have had the ability to rock so many audiences. Yet its the coming of age performance by Rupert Grint that sends a shock to the system.
Grint has finally grown up with just 2 more Harry Potter Films, you can only hope he can leave the potter spotlight behind once its over and create so more serious roles for himself. Especially roles that can shock and awe viewers who know grint as the innocent Ron Weasley.
Some Great performances by a very interesting cast but its the direction that allows this movie to move past a mediocre script. The direction is original, the usage of music and grint and sheehan's performances help move the film.
Especially considering the script lacks character development and only aspects of the movie are actually fascinating. Not a great movie but good enough and makes you wonder how this never made it to American audiences.
