Review of Cherry Falls (2000) by Alex M — 22 Aug 2005
(SHORT REVIEW):
An absolutely idiotic attempt to blend horror and comedy results in a movie that doesn't provide either chuckles or scares. The supposedly-clever "twist" in this film is that this time teenagers who are virgins are the ones who are being targeted by a deranged serial killer (whereas in most slasher films, promiscuous teens are the first to be chopped up). There are some moments where the suspense is drawn out in an effective manner, but by the time the villain is revealed and goes on an all-out spree of murder and mayhem, the film becomes so grisly that any chance we had at laughing goes out the window. Terrible.
