Review of Cherry Falls (2000) by Ben W — 21 Dec 2009
Cherry Falls is the kind of movie I've seen for sale in newsagents and petrol stations. But now that I decided to give it a try, I can say that it may be the typical teen horror slasher movie, but there's still something about it that's more enjoyable than the norm. I especially liked the corpse in the chandelier.
Michael Biehn, playing his typecast badass defender of justice, is (in my opinion) always a good thing. This time he's a small town sherrif with a troubled past and father of Brittany Murphy's misfit Jody.
The idea of a movie about a serial killer, targeting virgins. Which causes all the local teens to organise a big sex party, sounds like something I would've loved if I had watched it 4 or 5 years ago, but that's the main problem with Cherry Falls, it appeals to the target audience, that being horny teens, but everyone else would just add it to the list of teen slashers to be made since the release of Scream back in 1996.
It may be average, but it's a good average.
