Review of Cherry Falls (2000) by Allan C — 05 Oct 2012
Straight faced satire of slasher films is a lot smarter than the self relative, winking "Scream" films. This film works as both a clever satire, with a pretty funny premiss that turns a major slasher film trope on it's head, and also as a straight slasher.
Taken just as a slasher film, it's good, but not up to say "Halloween" or "Deep Red" or even the gleefully over-the-top "Hatchet" franchise. It's unfortunately undone somewhat by a surprisingly conventional climax.
