One can't watch this film without thinking of "Dangerous Liaisons", which is obvious, given that the film reunites writer, director & actress. While the themes & characters are similar, they aren't the same.
In both movies, however, I want to step in and keep the principle characters from making the choices they do, but, alas. And, as with Dangerous Liaisons, this film is beautiful to watch as it unfolds.
One big difference? "Cheri" has kinder characters, and the intensity is less severe.
