Review of Chef (2014) by Lightlysalted — 02 Feb 2015
The film is funny, creative and inspirational. Without giving away too much, it does fall to some common cliche pitfalls -- namely that the child in the film is far more tech savvy than the average person meanwhile, the adult is completely ignorant about the expensive devices he owns.
While we get that this reversal may be founded to a degree, the movie's portrayal of the subject was nothing less than hyperbole. That aside, it is refreshing to watch a down to earth movie about not compromising your values and picking up the pieces of your life without having had to watch everything burn to the ground first.
Accurate portrayals of life and living make this a great film.
