Review of Chef (2014) by Dann M — 17 Dec 2014
Writer/director Jon Favreau crafts a deliciously entertaining and heartfelt character drama with Chef. After losing his job as head chef at a prestigious restaurant Carl Casper starts up a food truck and goes on a cross country trip with his son.
Favreau leads the cast and is joined by Sofia Vergara, John Leguizamo, Scarlett Johansson, and Dustin Hoffman, who all give great performances. The writing is also especially good, and gives a real authentic feel to the culinary world.
The characters too are remarkably compelling and fun. Additionally, the film has a nice message about family and believing in oneself. An inspirational, feel-good film, Chef is a delightful treat.
