Review of Chef (2014) by Campbell P — 29 Jan 2015
Jon Favreau really knocked this movie out of the park. I LOVED Chef. It was one of the best feel good movies I've ever seen. The story of a special, skilled chef that only wants to be original and to share it with the people while at the same time bonding with his son.
I really enjoyed watching the chemistry between the characters, they all grew into each other and were great together. The acting of this movie was also great, one of the better casts I've watched together.
The way they show the food in this movie made me want to eat my hands, everything looks so good and delicious. If this movie didn't make a person hungry then you have literally no appetite for good food.
The way that they used social media as a tool to gain their nationwide popularity was something I haven't seen in a movie before and wasn't a distraction at all. This movie is also really funny! The three main leads are very funny together and stirred up a lot of laughs for me.
The whole misunderstanding of social media joke was very funny. I'm not ashamed at all of this but I cried in this movie because of how beautiful the relationship between Carl and Percy came to be in the end.
They really grew closer as well as towards his wife which made the movie all the more happier. It's a moment where you just wanna hug all the characters and clap for them. Chef had everything I could've asked for in a movie, I had high expectations for this film to begin with and it totally exceeded those high standards.
This is one of my favorites for sure. A.
