Review of Cheap Thrills (2013) by Oscar T — 11 Apr 2014
Amidst an escalating series of dares, a newlywed couple plays God with two recently reunited high-school friends. Dark and intriguing, Cheap Thrills thrives on it's sadistic tone. A satisfying conclusion leaves much to dwell on.
Disturbing and visceral, Cheap Thrills reminded me of Michael Haneke's "Funny Games," an Austrian film, in it's tone, although our heroes here are victim to naught but their own greed and depravity.
