Review of Che: Part One (2008) by Gabriel K — 09 Apr 2009
An excellent movie (but then I've enjoyed most of Soderbergh's stuff). Watched it back to back with the sequel on the big screen at the Hong Kong International Film Festival - over four hours long, but worth it.
Che is put in a somewhat overly rosy light, with only a short glimpse into his executions which is the main tarnish on his image. However, overall a very interesting portrayal of the man and his times, with Benicio Del Toro very well cast.
I'd also recommend The Motorcycle Diaries as a prelude to this - very different in style, but gives even more context.
