Review of Che: Part One (2008) by Iain G — 23 Jun 2009
Pretty darn good piece of film making. I guess I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I didn't know anything about what really happened or who he really was. That being said, if you neglect the fact the the movie is not based on reality and that the main purpose of the movie is to give the world a twisted view of how Castro came to power, then it's actually very good.
My family and I had a couple good laughs during the movie; that is, the ones that could actually take the BS long enough to watch the whole movie. In the last scene they show him disgusted by one of his officers who is now driving a shiny new convertible that didn't belong to him. This was particularly funny to all of us because the olive green convertible that El Che was seen and photographed driving all over cuba in the years after Castro's take over was actually taken from my Grandfather...
Incredible indeed!!!
I recommend this movie to anyone who want's to find out why the world doesn't understand the Cuban people. The only thing the world know's about Cuba is the propaganda displayed in this film.
98% Historical Fiction!
